Durante toda mi vida profesional he tenido la inmensa fortuna de trabajar en el área creativa, sumergida en proyectos de ilustración, animación y ahora también de videojuegos. Ir a esta expo era vital, era ver cómo trabajan en la empresa modelo por excelencia. Por sus bellas historias, por la sensibilidad, la aventura…

Si… si… parezco una fan girl adolescente. Pero es que de verdad me parece una empresa modelo. Desde la primera Toy Story, Pixar es sinónimo de factoría de sueños y aventura. Y me cuesta horrores escoger mi película favorita… cuando pienso en Up, enseguida me asalta Wally a quemarropa, o Edna Moda reclama mi atención, o Woody con su sombrero vaquero… es muy difícil. Pero (al menos hoy) diré que mi película favorita es Up. Sobre todo porque estoy atravesando esa fase donde quiero viajar y tener aventuras, y descubrir nuevos lugares y ver el amanecer desde otras latitudes. (Confesaré que estoy especialmente obsesiva con Finlandia).

Pero volviendo a la expo… imaginen qué emoción me produjo tener ante mis ojos las entrañas de las películas que tanto admiro. Tener justo ante mi nariz (casi estrujada contra los cristales) todo el arte, las acuarelas, los pasteles, el arte digital, las esculturas de todos los personajes, que a lo largo de los años, han sido invitados fijos en mis fines de semana de descanso y en mis tardes de trabajo. Porque durante algún tiempo tuve el hábito de poner estas películas de fondo mientras escribía memorias de proyectos.

Verlo todo de primera mano me hizo sentir emoción, alegría y también una inmensa envidia! Si. E·N·V·I·D·IA de trabajar en proyectos así, en historias como esas.

El nivel de calidad del arte no hace falta ni que lo mencione… Obviamente es lo mejor que he visto a nivel de producción en toda mi existencia. Desde el mimo en la presentación, la experimentación en los acabados, las formas en que los dibujos pasan de ser guías orientativas para los equipos de trabajo, para convertirse en arte, en pura atmósfera y en momentos casi reales, capturados en lápiz y papel.

Ron y yo alucinamos toda la expo, fue brutal ir juntos a verla… Recuerdo cómo veía las esculturas y cómo vimos el zootropo al menos dos veces seguidas… Además, con nuestra habitual facilidad para entretenernos con cualquier cosa, la cola de entrada se hizo menos pesada… con todo y que estuvimos hasta casi una hora allí de pie, sin olvidar que tuvimos que ir varias veces en distintos horarios porque era IMPOSIBLE entrar…

During all my profesional live I have had the incredible luck to work on creative projects, first were illustrations, then animation and now videogames. Visiting this expo was a very-much-must on my M52 of the current year. Because of their stories, because of the sensibility, because of the adventure…

I know I know… I sound like a fangirl (cause I´m)… But I truely believe this expo was a must, and Pixar (at least for me) is a role model company. Is very very very very hard for me to choose my favorite movie. When I think in Up, suddenly appears: Wally or Edna Mode, or Woody claiming for my attention. But (today) my fav is gonna be Up. I guess is connected with this period of my live when I´m crazy to travel, and get to know very far away lands. (I´m especially obsessed with Finland).

But back to Madrid, and back to the expo… Can you imaging, how deeply impacted I was, having just in front of my eyes unveiled all the part of the secrets of my favorites movies? It was my chance to get to know them «in flesh and bone», after having them messing around a lot of afternoons while writting lots of informs and project bibles.

Have this chance deeply impress me, and made me feel joy and happiness and E·N·V·Y… I wish I could work on projects like those!!!

There is no need to explain the amazin quality of the art… Obviously was the best level I have ever seen, talking on terms of animation. Every single detail, since the smallest piece of paper, going through the experimental sketches, every shape and shadow where much more that just part of an animated production… the where pure atmosfere, art, «real» moments captured by pencil.

Ron and I just hallucinated the whole exposition. I can picture him watching the sculptures, and the amazing zootrop (we saw it at least twice). And thank all gods Ron came with me, together we have this amazing power of have fun with any kind of thing… And (trust me) I was very lucky to be there with him, cause we had to wait at least for an hour, after going several times, to try to get tickets.And I just want to thank our very loved friend Kike, for sharing with me all the photos of this post! (THAAAANKS KIKE!!! with my hugest kawaii brown eyes!)
