M+4: Donante / Donor

Hace años que tenía pendiente hacerme el carnet de donante de órganos. En teoría cualquier casi cualquier edad es buena para donar y, pese que mi plan es vivir hasta los 121 años (para poder decir que viví en tres siglos distintos), me pareció importante declarar mi cual es mi deseo en relación a la donación de órganos.

Es una acción super sencilla, en España entras a esta web (cada país tendrá la suya) y proporcionando muy pocos datos accedes a tener un carnet que manifiesta tu voluntad de ser donante, sin embargo llegado el caso, quienes deben autorizarlo son los familiares más cercanos que tengas. Es decir, que el carnet no te convierte en un donante instantáneo, sólo es un recordatorio.
En mi familia nunca se han dado los casos de necesitar o de proporcionar un órgano, hemos sido afortunados en ese sentido, ya que sencillamente viene a recordarnos que tenemos una buena salud. Sin embargo (yo que soy super aficionada a leer las noticias positivas de la prensa) cada año me tropiezo con que España está a la cabeza de donaciones hechas y recibidas. Es un acto de generosidad inmenso, y sinceramente creo que debería ser al revés, por defecto todos deberíamos ser donantes y tener una tarjeta que acreditase que no queremos donar. Supongo que con el tiempo todo llega… sólo me pregunto si la ciencia (células madre) o la ficción (cyborgs) ganarán la carrera a la generosidad.

AH! y esta semana hice un pequeño bono extra, en lugar de desayunar galletas (gaaaaalleeeeetaaaas) decidí probar qué tal un smoothy (batido de toda la vida dicho en «fancy») de plátano, leche de avena, avena, almendras y chocolate… estaba super rico. Tokio apoyó por completo mi decisión.

This was one those kind of things I want to do since a few years (and always think «…one of these days…»)… but metodo52 is about accomplishing dreams, about living today-now-here, and must of all not-procrastinating things we actually want to do, so finally I decided to take a little bit of my time and get my organ donor identification.

Becoming an organ donor is quite simple in Spain, you have to visit this website (for sure is different according to the country where you live), you have to bring a little information about yourself, and you easily get your digital ID.
This ID is not valid by itself, in case you become a potencial organ donor, your must close relatives or family has to bring their approbation. So Basically having the ID is just a reminder, and a way to keep clear which your intentions are.
Now I live in Spain, and gladly I can say this is one of the must generous countries on the world, at least when we talk about organ donation. The 4% of world transplants were done in here… and that is a lot! (For more statistic information you can check this document.)
In my family we have been very lucky… we have never needed a transplant, and never have been in the situation to be a donor, thankfully we are very healthy people. But (even when I pretend to live until 121 years old) you never know! Just in case, I did my ID and talk about it with my family, to make sure everyone knows which my decisions are :).
Hope someday things will be just the oposite, hope that someday you will need an ID for not being a donor… and this brings my one extra thought:
Will generosity win the race to science (working on mother cells) or to fiction (imagining cyborgs)?

OH! and I try another new thing, instead of having oat-milk and cookies for breakfast, I try a banana, oat, oat-milk, almond and chocolate smoothy, was so good! Tokio was absolutely supportive about it!
